Module 1: Introduction to Mail-Flow & Email Architecture
Content to be covered: History & evolution of email, Email system components: MUA, MTA, MDA, Overview of on-premises vs cloud-based mail systems, Activity: Trace an email flow diagram.

Module 2: Email Protocols Explained
Content to be covered: SMTP: sending email, POP vs IMAP: retrieving email, MAPI & EAS in modern clients, Hands-on: Configure email in Outlook/Gmail using different protocols.

Module 3: DNS & Mail Routing
Content to be covered: MX records and how they control delivery, SPF, DKIM, DMARC – preventing spoofing and phishing, Hands-on: Set up test DNS records for mail flow validation.

Module 4: Anatomy of an Email
Content to be covered: Message headers: how to read & analyze them, MIME and attachments, Tracing message paths using headers, Hands-on: Analyze headers of sample emails.

Module 5: Troubleshooting Mail Flow Issues
Content to be covered: Common issues: NDRs, spam filters, delays, Tools: Telnet, MXToolbox, message trace (M365), Hands-on: Simulate and fix a failed mail delivery scenario.

Module 6: Security in Mail Flow
Content to be covered: TLS encryption in email, Anti-spam and anti-malware filtering, Phishing protection and secure gateways, Activity: Simulate a phishing email & analyze how filters catch it.

Module 7: Cloud Mail Flow (Microsoft 365 & Gmail)
Content to be covered: Exchange Online mail flow architecture, Gmail routing and filters, Hybrid mail flow scenarios, Hands-on: Configure connectors in Microsoft 365/Google Workspace.

Module 8: Capstone Project & Best Practices
Content to be covered: Project: Design a secure mail flow setup for a company, Peer review and discussion, Career applications in IT support, system admin, and cybersecurity, Educator module: Teaching mail flow concepts effectively.
