About Course

Course Description

This program equips learners with the skills to set up, manage, and maintain virtualized environments and servers. It introduces concepts of virtualization, hypervisors, Windows & Linux server management, networking, storage, security, and automation. Participants will work with tools like VMware, Hyper-V, and VirtualBox, along with hands-on labs in Windows Server and Linux environments.

Course Content

Module 1: Introduction to Virtualization & Servers
Content to be covered: What is virtualization? Types of virtualization, Hypervisors: Type 1 vs Type 2, Introduction to servers: physical vs virtual, Lab: Install Oracle VirtualBox and create a sample VM.

Module 2: Virtualization Platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
Content to be covered: Overview of VMware Workstation/ESXi, Hyper-V, VirtualBox, Differences in enterprise vs personal virtualization platforms, Lab: Create and configure VMs in VMware/Hyper-V.

Module 3: Windows Server Installation & Configuration
Content to be covered: Installing Windows Server (2019/2022), Windows Server roles & features, Lab: Deploy Windows Server in a VM.

Module 4: Active Directory, DNS & DHCP
Content to be covered: AD DS overview and organizational units, DNS & DHCP basics in Windows Server, Lab: Create AD domain, users, groups, and configure DNS/DHCP.

Module 5: File, Print, and Remote Access Services
Content to be covered: File sharing, permissions, NTFS vs share permissions, Print services setup, Remote Desktop & remote management tools, Lab: Configure file server with permissions + RDP setup.

Module 6: Linux Server Administration
Content to be covered: Installing Ubuntu/CentOS server, Basic Linux commands for server admins, Lab: Setup Apache/Nginx web server + SSH remote access.

Module 7: Virtual Networking & Storage Management
Content to be covered: Virtual switches, NAT, bridged networking, Storage concepts: SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Lab: Configure VM network adapters and shared storage.

Module 8: Security, Backup & Monitoring
Content to be covered: Windows Firewall & Linux iptables, Backup strategies for servers & VMs, Monitoring tools (PerfMon, Resource Monitor, top, htop), Lab: Setup Windows backup + Linux log monitoring.

Module 9: Automation with PowerShell & Bash
Content to be covered: Introduction to PowerShell scripting for Windows, Bash basics for Linux automation, Lab: Create PowerShell script for user management + Bash script for log cleanup.

Module 10: Capstone Project & Career Pathways
Content to be covered: Project work, Case studies, Career guidance
